Suttons Seeds - Tithonia Red Torch

Tall plants for the back of a border with large, single, orange/scarlet, dahlia-like blooms. Easy to grow and fast growing, flowers for garden decoration or cutting. Flowers July-October. Height 100-150cm (40-60").

Growing Information

Sow the seed thinly 1.3cm (½") direct into finely raked, moist, warm, weed-free soil where the plants are to flower from late March onwards. Germination usually takes 10-15 days. As the seedlings develop, thin them out gradually to achieve a final spacing of 30cm (12"). For early flowering sow indoors in February-March, transplant into pots and trays then acclimatise before planting outside where the plants are to flower, once the risk of frost has passed.
